Sonic the Hedgehog Moving to the Big Screen

The blue blitz that is Sonic the Hedgehog has been entertaining us for more than 25 years with excellent gaming features, challenging stages and unbeatable gameplay. It’s rather strange that this hero hasn’t appeared in movies as we’ve seen with many other heroes that started as games. However, 2019 is about to change that as Paramount works on the CGI version of Sonic to bring you a realistic move!

There’s been a lot of talk about the movie, especially with Sonic Forces being set to release this year, creating an exciting next couple of months for fans. The movie production team is planning a life-like Sonic character, much like we saw with films such as X-Mex (Cyclops character) and many others. Therefore, we can expect to see Sonic in a real-world movie, interacting with people and finding a way around real-life situations to beat his enemies.

With such a major release in the pipeline, it’s no wonder major names are being mentioned for the movie. This includes negotiations with Jim Carrey who is considering the role for Sonic’s nemesis, Dr. Robotnik. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, the actor is sure to bring an interesting twist to the evil man, which could even offer some humorous moments that relate to other aspects of the movie as well, making us wonder what’s instore for the story and how it’s all set to happen.

From what the media covers, we can expect new Sonic movie to be released in mid-November of 2019, which might seem like a long time from now, but it at least gives us more than enough time to take advantage of the Sonic Forces game.

Sony was actually the first franchise to take on the creation of the film, but they allowed the rights to fall through, which was picked up by Paramount in October. As many would know, the Sonic game series has been around since 1991 and remains a popular choice for players from around the world. Not only have the games become better, but with over 360 million sales, it remains one of the most played games on mobile, console and tablets.

The Voices

It’s bound to be a movie worth waiting for as Jim Carry isn’t the only major mention for voices and other characters in the movie. In fact, the movie also includes well-known names such as Tika Sumpter and James Fowler.

One of the biggest voices comes from Ben Schwartz who has been involved with voices for many years and would be familiar to those who enjoy classic cartoons such as Dewey Duck from Duck Tales. He has also been involved with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as the voice for Leonardo and has recently appeared in the popular Blue Iguana film. Not only will be part of the Sonic film but also in the Kevin Heart comedy Night School, which is yet another movie making waves in the media.
